LAKE COUNTY STARS TRYOUTS

2023-2024 Tryout Information

Welcome to the 2023-2024 Stars Tryouts!

All players, whether current Stars or new players need to register for the 2023-2024 season below.  This gets you into the system for next season.

Current Stars players need to register just to get into the system for the 2023-2204 season, though a formal tryout may not be required.  14u players moving into the High School program should plan to attend a tryout - more info to come on that.

Parents: the account you use/create for this registration is the account that will be used for the 2023-2024 season.  Current Stars, please use the account you used for prior seasons to avoid any account issues.

Tryout Dates

Tryouts will be held as needed to fill our rosters for next season.  We will reach out to you via email with more details on tryout dates.

Please note: the "baseball year" and the "school year" are not the same.  Players can "play up" in order to play with kids in the same grade in school, but players cannot "play down" for any reason.

Example: a player born in June 2009 would be eligible for the 9u level in the summer of 2019 because he turns age 10 after May 1.  However, most of his classmates in the same grade at school have likely turned 10 before May 1, and would not be eligible for 9u.  So this player is technically eligible for 9u according to USSSA, but could opt to play the 2019 season in 10u with the kids in the same grade in school. Kids with birthdays from May through August typically fall into this situation. It's up to each family to determine what's best for players in this situation. Please reach out to the Stars with any questions.

What to expect

Players should expect to be graded at stations on hitting, pitching, infield and outfield drills, position specific drills (catcher, 1st base), and base running.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and get yourself warmed up.  You should expect to be there for the entire session, depending on the number of players at the tryout.  Parents - please check in with a coach if you're planning to leave, so you know what time to pickup your child.

Bring to tryouts

Here's a list of things you should wear/bring to tryouts:

  • Wear a jersey or t-shirt with a number on it (front or back)
